Parts Required from the Donor Vehicle

It is a good idea to re-fit all nuts, bolts & washers

to the various items upon removal, and take some good photographs. You will forget.

Engine c/w

Inlet Manifold & all pipes.

Carbs and Filters (make a note of all pipe routes)

Fuel Pressure Regulator

Fuel Pump

Oil Seperator

Oil Filter (keep as a pattern)

Starter Motor & Cables

Alternator & Brackets

Water pump & Pulley

Engine Mtg Brackets. (later Pattern) These are very nice cast alloy and worth a lot.

A Spare Sump if possible

Starter Solenoid

Oil Pressure Warning Switch

Temperature Warning Switch

Gearbox. Try & get a 5 speed box in good condition.

Reversing Light sub loom

Gearchange Lever mechanism

Engine Mounting Rubbers.

Complete Ignition System including matching Distributor & Ignition Module.

Reversing Switch.

All switches. Get 2 Heater/Fan Switches.

Number Plate lamps.

Wiring loom. Keep this even if you intend to buy a

new loom as you will still need some of the plugs which CANNOT be purchased as spares.

Remove all under-bonnet items.

Instruments.

Bulbs.

Fuel Tank & Sender. Spare senders are available from RH.

Wiper Assembly (Try & get an Austin "Mini" unit complete.)

Get a Mini Washer bottle at the same time with Mtg. brkts pump etc.

Speedo Cable.

Throttle Cable and Linkage. A spare is very useful if you need to fit a different Carb.

Clutch Cable.

Relays.

Door Rubbers.

Heater Assembly. Try & get a VW Polo unit complete. These are getting scare. Get two.

Pedals Pedal Box & Master Cylinders. (Check for cracks in the Pedal Box)

Vacuum Servo.

Brake system 3 way union. Essential item.

Brake Unions & Pipes. See section XVIII

Handbrake Assy complete with Lever, Lever Cover,

Cable and Equalizer. Keep the pin & circlip safe.

4 Wheels & Tyres. (For use during the build only)

Steering Column Assy.

Binnacle Switches. Keep the keys safe !! Replacements are very expensive, try & get a spare.

Steering Wheel

Rear Hubs. Should last forever. !!

Rear Suspension. As above.

Steering Rack.

Differential unit. Built to last forever but check for condition.

Rear Drive 1/2 Shafts. Can be overhauled, new seals etc.

Deceleration Valve. Waste of time but needed for SVA.

Anything else that might come in handy.

You can always throw it away later.

Log Book.

Vin Plate.

Do the SORN now.

 

Some of these items are NOT needed but keep just in case !

eg. Steering rack. Steering Wheel.

All depends on the specification of your kit.

 

There is always your local scrap yard, but remember

it is easier to remove items from your Sierra Donor in you garage than in the

rain at a muddy scrapyard without half your tools and no lifting gear.

This list may not be 100% accurate. If in doubt keep it at least until the car is on the road.!!
