The Model Engineering Magazine Indexes
Many of you may have seen an Editorial in the April Issue of Model Engineer re the Austrailian Web site (itech) where a Model Engineers' Workshop Index is being promoted. On examination this index turns out to be a 100% cloned copy of the MEW Index below and offers nothing new. The author has been asked to remove it as soon as possible as the MEW, ME, EiM & Suppliers Indexes are all copyright. However I understand that the itech site has been given permission to reproduce the ME Index by the copyright holder, again this is merely a copy of the ME Index below. This is not the case for the MEW, EiM & Supplier Indexes where no such permission to reproduce has been given.
Alan J Munday has kindly produced a very useful program that enables you to search the Model Engineering Indexes in a much more user friendly way. The latest version allows printing of results and also produces a .csv file output. You do not need Microsoft Excel installed on your PC. Files included are:- Model Engineer, Engineering in Miniature, Model Engineers' Workshop and the Supplier Index.
You will need to download and install the ‘Magazine Index Search Engine’ and then add the latest ‘Index Data Files’. These are self extracting files and will overwrite any obsolete files provided you are using the default C:\Program Files\Index file location.
Note:- Any existing MEindex software should be uninstalled as this is a new and fully revised version.
Download the latest version of the Magazine Index Search Engine A counter has been added to show something is going on and you can search all the data fields at once. Also any redundant or unwanted .csv files can be deleted.

Database Indexing Tool This is a useful software routine to assist in the compilation and modification of .csv style Databases. Once installed its method of use is more or less self explanatory.
