HISTORIC ENGINES WORTH MODELLING Paperback – 103 pages. Author Anthony Mount ISBN 1-85761-124-1
Anthony Mount has been a regular contributor to Engineering in Miniature since 1989 with a series of constructional articles based on Historical Stationery Steam Engines. His first volume is a compilation of six articles, most of which have appeared in previous issues of Engineering in Miniature. Full constructional details are given and the comprehensive drawings, although a tad small for the older modeller, are clear and concise, being dimensioned in both Imperial and Metric units, however full size drawings and castings are available from a number of suppliers. The book is well illustrated with black & white photographs, which always seems to show up engineering detail much better than colour. All the engines are suitable for production on the average centre lathe and would make superb display models for the home. Much more interesting than a vase full of flowers! For any model engineer, beginner or expert alike who would like to build one of these beautiful and very interesting engines this book is highly recommended.
