How (not) to paint a locomotive - and line it out - and build a spray booth - and apply transfers - and more…... Hardback – 168 pages. Author Christopher Vine ISBN 978-0-9553359-0-7
As
far as I am aware there are very few books devoted entirely to the painting
& finishing of a Model Locomotive. And there are certainly none that cover
the subject in such depth. It took Christopher Vine two years to paint BONGO
an LNER 4-6-0 Tender Locomotive and the trials and tribulations of that journey
are covered in candid detail. The result was a Gold Medal and the Charles
Kennion Memorial Trophy at the 2004 Model Engineer Exhibition. A well worn
cliché is that ‘beauty is skin deep’ and this is never more self evident
than with a badly painted model Locomotive. No one will notice the number
of rivets on your Tender or the dodgy joint in your boiler, but poor paintwork
stands out a mile. You may not wish to spend 2 years painting your model,
and with this book you may not have to. What is certain is that the books
cost will be recouped over and over again and many of the pitfalls avoided.
This book will not only appeal to Locomotive builders but to the builder of
ANY model that requires a decent paint finish. A MUST HAVE book if ever there
was one.
